tkd competitions are just that. tkd competitions. its a sport, and actually in WTF style competitions its disadvantageous to keep the hands up - the moment you move your hands to cover your face, your opponent will gain points against your torso. its too fast paced. losing a match and KOs in wtf tkd are the same thing, but its better to keep your hands down - otherwise your loss is guaranteed.

you're wrong, girls tend to do kicks about equal as often, because you can't punch nearly as hard as you can kick... of course granted you can kick with the correct technique.

i just realised that guys love to kick the head of their opponents and make them knockout while girls would give face and always kick and punch all the way for 3 WHOLE rounds! god! how i wish there are more girls doing knockouts than guys... =)
