"Tarzan of the Apes" was the very first film made about Edgar Rice Burroughs' savage hero. The film was directed by Sidney Scott in 1918 and was based on Burroughs' hugely popular novel of 1912. The film starred Elmo Lincolm as the adult Tarzan, Gordon Griffiths as the boy Tarzan, Enid Markey as Jane Porter, and Thomas Jefferson as Professor Porter.

  • Interesting! This ...

Interesting! This seems very close to the book what with the notes Tarzan writes. Probably because the book was so well known then. I like the young Tarzan; the grown up one looks a bit silly to me with that bandana.

And that ape which abducted Jane (Terzok?) has been upgraded to Big Scary Black Man (TM). Well. 1918, I guess.

  • I'm not really sure ...

I'm not really sure what you mean by a 1980s "Series Tarzan". The Ron Ely Tarzan series was made in the mid-1960s, an animated series was made in the mid-1970s, and the next Tarzan series after that was the Wolf Larson series of the early-1990s.

Are you talking about a Brazilian series?
