My response time seems to have taken a nosedive too. It's weird. Oh well. At least my skill seems to be climbing back up, though it seems that I have slow starts. I think these two show me starting to get back in gear, but it's still pretty awkward.

Match #3
King Dedede
Port Town Aero Dive
Oh gee, King Dedede really isn't too suited for one-on-one play. He attacks real slow and is a huge target. Prediction is an essential part of being good with King Dedede, and it's a lot harder when there's a single target to hit and when the online lag makes prediction that much harder. Of course, I've been putting up with online button lag for a while. Man, that upward Smash of Snake's sure is a killer.

Match #4
Mr. Game & Watch
Distant Planet
Ah, here comes a third player! That's WhiteKhakis from here on YouTube, by the way. He's really good, much better than I am. I had a few lucky breaks though, so he didn't clean-sweep me the way he did in a previous match of mine against him. I'm kind of apprehensive when I see WhiteKhakis on the Friend Code address book looking for a Brawl.

  • I know what it ...

I know what it means. I've timed both cases myself in Melee. The time you remain invincible is the same, regardless of how long you get off the platform, at least in Melee.

  • I think he means ...

I think he means you can stay on the platform for awhile where you cant be hit and then when it disappears your normal grace period starts so its effect "lasts" longer.

I don't remember anything like that mentioned anywhere. I timed it myself when I played Melee, though it may be different in Brawl.

  • no, when you die ...

no, when you die you come back on the platform you are invincible longer than if you get off of it immediately.

If you're talking about Snake's Grenade Launcher, the invincibility period is the same no matter how long you stay on the platform.

why the heck didnt you stay on the come back to life platform when he still had his gun shooting you?? you just immediately came off it and was vulnerable

  • lol. Yeah, ...

lol. Yeah, Metaknight's constant standard A in the air along with double jumps actually hurt a good amount.

As for Boss Battles, wow. I did beat it on Very hard with Lucario apparently...I still can't beat intense. If you ever try for the challenge, good luck.

  • I know about ...

I know about Charizard's Rock Smash (and the Trainer's Pokémon Change to dodge attacks), but Metaknight? That's new to me.

I haven't tried it on anything above Normal. I struggle on Easy, so I can't count on beating Boss Battles on Intense in the near future.

  • Wow, I'm the total ...

Wow, I'm the total opposite. I love using Squirtle (for his down + A in the air) and Charizard for his huge amount of power. Have you tried Boss Battles on Intense yet? I still can't beat it for nothing and many people say that Metaknight and Charizard are the best for that.

You should make a vid on trying that.

  • I have moderate ...

I have moderate knowledge of what to do with him. I'm better as Ivysaur than Squirtle or Charizard though. He'll take a lot of practice for me to get better as.

You can see I'm using Yoshi, Mr. Game & Watch, Wario, King Dedede, and R.O.B. quite a bit, however. The Randomizer often chooses characters people don't like so much. It doesn't pick the Trainer so much for me though. It's a shame, as he's a very fun character to use because of how fickle his playing style is.

I remember when you said that you liked to use the lower-tier characters. You can actually use Pokemon Trainer because I don't know anybody from my school that uses him...I don't know if you do.

  • Well, I use the ...

Well, I use the Randomizer, so I get an equal chance with anyone. Items are my strong point, however; I know how each of them work inside and out.

No, it's because I had to go leave for class. I would've played more matches if I had more time, and no one was around anymore when I returned.

  • Those Waddle Dees ...

Those Waddle Dees certainly are. You need to play Sudden Death against Dedede differently than any other character. It rarely works for me though. He either doesn't throw far enough, or they know enough to jump as soon as the match begins.

Sonic's Homing Attack is even more lethal, however.

  • Tough matches. I ...

Tough matches. I don't usually play with items, so I'm not 100% used to them. lol. At least you fought well with characters nobody use.

  • That's definitely ...

That's definitely the easiest (and most entertaining, honestly) way to use him. I'll have to get back to you when it comes to using King Dedede in one-on-one combat. Apparently Waddle Dees are lethal in Sudden Death conditions, though.

I had the hardest time figuring out that pressing down was what caused him to cancel out of it. I would personally think that up would be more logical, because I would think down should tell him to descend rapidly...which he's already doing anyway.

EEL joins, you have one fight, then drop out. xD You must not've wanted to deal with him.

  • I had thought he'd ...

I had thought he'd be able to reach the platform, which is why I did nothing. I also keep forgetting how to cancel out of it. I sometimes rapidly mash buttons, but nothing works. (Reading the Dojo, you tap down on the stick. I never even considered that.)

I don't know if I ever found myself on a one-on-one online as King Dedede, but I always have a lot more trouble with one opponent than I do with many when I use him. I always score KOs as King Dedede by indiscriminately swinging that mallet.

  • I would also like ...

I would also like to say that the second match proves that for whatever reason, I fare less favorably in brawls than in one-on-one matches for some reason. I think it provides too much mental overhead and causes me to lose my focus...

EEL causes me to sit on pins and needles the whole match long, since he is indeed a worthy adversary. I'm not sure if I'm justified in saying this, but I think that for every sound beating he gives me I hand back another, perhaps in another match on another day...

  • I'm not so sure ...

I'm not so sure that I'm in a position where I can really make such a statement, but I think my Snake is improving slightly...but I've still much to learn, probably through much trial and painful error.

I disagree that Dedede is poorly-suited for one-on-one combat...granted he's large, you can't do much about that, but he has his fair share of fast (for him) moves to keep foes off balance and let you set up some slower ones. His Up+B disallows edge-grabbing unless you cancel out of its attack.

Yes, it seems Dedede is more suited to attacking while another player stuns the target.
