whats the strategy when flying the kite so that you can cut theirs without getting yours cut? is it just luck?

What do modern kites use to cut the other kites strings like in a tournament? Anything other than glass shards and powder?

Thanks for posting this gr8 video. I just came from the school field after flying kites for two hours. We have the traditional Afghan kites made in Kabul, Afg. Hmmm the strings we have is not that good and sort of out dated so they easily break. We use fishing string to fly "Panj Tabaqa" in English "Five Pieces" Kite...

Thanks! We use crushed glass on our kite strings too, so that way we can see who can cut the most kites. It's also fun to go after the loose kites.

I miss the good old days in the philippines when we fly kites and our string has a crushed glass in it to cut away the string of other kites. Your videos about fighter kites is amazing!

Wow!!! Those kites look soooo cool! They fly like birds. They look like two fighting eagles when they attach claws and swoop down! Is this how they fly kites in the Kite Runner?
