i have been listening to this song lately, imagining it from the perspective of a man who has died. perhaps he is singing to the love of his life. anyway, it's the song i would have playing at my funeral (to my wife). colin hay is amazing.

Love of my life ended it with me - went out for four and a half years. Heartbroken but this song makes me feel better for a few minutes. Great song.

Wow! this song is amazing, straight from the heart, i wish artists did this more often! when i first heard this song i instantly thought wow this guy knows how I felt. when he says "i don't want you thinking I'm unhappy" thats so true, you don't want their sympathy on you but you're so lonely and still in love with them...I wish i could meet him to tell him this is the most honest song iv ever heard!

It hurt quite a lot for quite a while but I did eventually get over it and moved on with my life. I certainly won't be wasting any more breath feeling sorry for myself over what might have been. Life's too short and filled with too much beauty for that.

Yeah the same thing happened to me with a chick I went to grad school with. She played with my feelings for over two years (which I think had a lot to do with boosting her own ego) and I was finally forced to bring an end to her game and cut off all contact with her.
