    After the toss it looked like Ed was going to go up to the board to remove the tomahawk, I'm glad Johnny caught him by his sleeve and pulled him back. Johnny was no fool.

    This is actually a "kinescope" recording, these were made by using a 16mm camera loaded with high speed film shooting a dedicated video monitor that was connected to the production switcher output. They could not be "taped" over because it is optical film. When the shows started using quadruplex video tape they were then recorded over due to their high cost.

    Probably one of the reasons that clip was saved, as during that time in Hollywood, saving film was rare, as it was expensive, so it was often reused and taped over (and thus, no known copy of Johnny's first show as host exists)
