Kendo 9th Dan Keiko is simply a practice or training, they are not fighting for win or lose. the only person i know of that could be the person in the white might be Moriji Mochida, but he is dead and hes in the 10th dan

I wonder: are the hachidans really trying or is it some kind of show? I have little experience with Kendo but they attack with mostly single hits and seemingly make no effort to avoid the master's counterattacks. It seems set up to me.

I don't see why he's a 9th dan. All he did was provide targets. Maybe he's good at predicting shots? High flouted and unrealistic, imho. They're all worn out after 1 min anyways.

his name is Daniguchi (Taniguchi) sensei. I'm not sure if he's still alive or not, but taht even took place only last year, so there is a high probability of him being alive. as far as gyudans and judans go, AJKF does not award those titles to anyone anymore, so dunno if there are any other gyudans still alive....

Anyone knows what's his name ? I heard Maruta but dont find anything with this. And someone know if he is still alive(or other kyudan ?)

the only reason the hachidans were able to hit the gyudan was because he let them. if you see his movements, there's no empty spot to hit. and it's not like the hachidans are just regular old kenshiis: they're considered masters of the art. that guy in the white is just absolutely insane

Sorry I still don't understand about the point system. You say you have to run through with your attack and scream. Why did the guy in white (9th dan?? :O:O!) not even attempt a block when the other guy ran past him, screaming and hitting his head? I can't get my head round it =(

This is very impressive, one of the best videos of great master in action I've ever seen. It's nice knowing that with enough discipline, it's possible to have this kind of skill at that age.

Weeman312, here's your answer. In order to score a point, you need to follow-through, or run past in your attack. You also need to scream like a banshee to get it. The louder the better. Which would explain the screaming for those who don't practice Kendo. I reccomend you do.
