  • Excellent!

By 'Excellent', I mean, an excellent example of why there are no aikido guys in MMA or UFC.

It's hard to find guys willing to fall down at the mere sight of an aikido adept.

The first pair are...blah. The second demonstration, with the sensei and Mr. Zebra Pants, however, is one of the best demons I've ever seen. Aikido is regularly derided for preparing students for only the most artificial of attacks, but in this instance, no one's screwing around. Awesome.

  • first pair is very ...

first pair is very disapointing. two beginners demonstrating is the worst you can do. they try hard, but it reflects poorly one the sensei. the second pair, sensei and uke, was not so bad. but please get rid of the advertisements on the dogi!!!! it goes against every possible thing about aikido.

  • All I can say is ...

All I can say is that one technic save my ass once. This guy was swinging a baseball bat, aiming for an homerun with my head. One reflex:Mukae Daoshi (Aikibudo technic and not Aikido, but it is similar). Yes it is useful. Fake? No. If the opponent resist his shoulder, wrist, elbow, neck will break. The moves look choreographed? It's only because people practice them over and over and over. It become a reflex. As simple as that. Know what you're talking about before bitching. Dumbass.

yeah right, no one is going to atack you this way, everything in aikido looks beautiful, i must admit, but not efective at all in the real life.

i think i know whar you want to say. sure your chance of taking a "criminal" down is higher than before, but it depends on the "criminals" intention. it could "just" be robbery but what if you have to deal with someone who wants to murder you...

  • Having been in a ...

Having been in a public demonstration like that, I can tell you that nothing there was preplanned. The moves look choreographed, because they train like that on a daily basis. Neither person in the second demonstration knew exaclty what the other one was going to do, I assure you. That's what Jiyuwaza is all about.
