  • Nope. It's still ...

Nope. It's still odd to see that Russia the winner was 3rd in the first semifinal. Have in mind that Greece didn't have close friends like Cyprus, Albania and Bulgaria. Armenia as well didn't have France, Turkey, Bulgaria.

  • it's not strange at ...

it's not strange at all when there are 2 semis and 5 extra countries
people vote different when they have to choose between 19 countries in each semi and 25 mixed countries in the final
for example during the semis greece got 10 pts by ireland, russia got 10 pts by greece and ukraine got 10 pts by cyprus
in the final greece got just 4 pts by ireland, russia 7 pts by greece and ukraine 6 pts by cyprus
cause other countries got in between
    it makes perfect sense

  • good songs? which ...

    good songs? which songs?
I can see that this guy totally didn't deserve to win. It's odd as well that Ukraine and Greece were the winner of the semifinals and got more pts than him. However, in the final when all ex-soviet countries voted, Greece came 3rd, Ukraine 2nd(when the 2nd last country voted) and Russia eventually won in the middle of the voting...

  • yeah they came 3rd ...

yeah they came 3rd and 2nd in 2006 cause they had sent really good songs and everybody had voted for them
in 2005 only ex soviet countries voted for them so they were 15th
cant you really see that unless most countries vote for an entry, theres no way it can win?

  • Last year, they ...

Last year, they came 3rd. In 2006, Russia couldn't win because of Lordi who had a strong Scandinavian block voting supporting them + Baltic countries + high pts from the rest of the countries, even Greece, Spain, Serbia and Croatia.

  • i see many ...

i see many similarities. both are dull songs and there were much better entries to win in both years.
the Russian entry was favourite to win because every1 knew that Russia would win this year! It was their time since there were so close the previous years like Serbia and Greece.

  • i don't know why ...

i don't know why estonia won and i don't see any similarities to this year
the russian song this year was a favorite from the beginning to the end and that was because of dima bilan and im sure you know it
if europe hadn't voted for russia, there was no way russia could have won
like they didn't win last year or the year before

  • my dear lena, ...

my dear lena, you're a fan so you can't be objective i understand you. But this guy totally doesn't deserve to be #1 and he S**ks as a person/

if there's no pt talking to me, then don't reply. thank you

  • Alex I don't know ...

Alex I don't know what you have against Dima but it is obvious you are very prejudiced against him so there is no point talking to you.

  • I know so many fans ...

I know so many fans other ESC participants, but that does not meana anything. They are still remain unknown. So to get into the point, Div Bilan wasn't known to Europe but among the Eurofans and every1 who is related to ESC.
Only t.A.T.u were popular in Europe before the Eurovision Song Contest 2003. Kate Ryan had gained popularity before Eurovision but not to that extent.

  • Oh well c;mon every ...

Oh well c;mon every single dima fan come over here!! lol so ridiculous.
every single participant has a fan in every single country. Having a couple of "fans" in every country doesn't mean you're famous. Famous=known by the majority of the population, selling cds etc.

  • I don't want to get ...

I don't want to get involved in this argument but Dima has fans in Europe. I'm Greek and I've been his fan since 2006 and I've met many other Europeans online who are his fans, too. He was the only eurovision participant this year that everyone knew who he is so he is not unknown.

  • Estonia in 2001 had ...

Estonia in 2001 had a boring song so why the won? Latvia in 2002 won because of the outstanding perfomance. The song was one of the worst ones that's why it was a flop around Europe.
Diva hasn't fan in Europe but in ex-soviet countries. He's unknown everywhere except soviet countries.

Keep dreaming that he won because he deserved it...i don;t wanna ruin it..

  • Ukraine is a part ...

Ukraine is a part of block voting, but Russia is the "mama" of ex-soviet states. They got only 1 12pts from Ukrainian immigrants in Portugal. In Eurovision they don't vote for the song neither for the singer only but for whole presentation of the entry which consists of the artist(s), song, perfomance and everything on stage.

  • they were 15th ...

they were 15th because of the diaspora in certain countries. In 2005 there was no Armenia Azerbaijan Georgia as well. Still they were overrated. Plus, their relationshio with Ukraine wasn't that good because of gas.

  • oh and ukraine ...

oh and ukraine isn't a part of the soviet block?
and in eurovision they don't vote for accent they vote for the song and the singer
like it or not dima has many fans in europe
but if you rather believe that its ex soviet countries or russian diaspora who am i to burst your bubble?

  • let me reverse your ...

    let me reverse your question
if russia has such a big diaspora, how come in 2005 they were 15th?

  • If it wasn't the ...

If it wasn't the soviet block voting, Ukraine or Greece would have won.

And the countries you mentioned have Russian diaspora except Malta.

Why do u mention Greece? Oh this is so pathetic. Russia sent its worst entry. The guy had an awful English accent (there are millions of videos mocking his accent and poor English) and his perfomance was dull. Thanks to ex-soviet countries though he won.

  • So you think that ...

So you think that Cyprus has so much power on the UK voting?? Then why they didn't get 12pts as well in 2003 and 2002 for example?

By Alex4u [Affiliate User] 1215757062 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
  • the Uk gave Cyprus ...

the Uk gave Cyprus 12 pts in the semi final
that says it all, don't you think?
cause please don't tell me the brits liked the cyprian song, that would be too funny

  • lol soviet block? ...

lol soviet block? malta belongs to the soviet block? portugal? greece? cyprus? norway? finland? spain? ireland? etc etc etc
sweetie, there were 41 countries voting minus greece and russia
16 of those gave greece a higher score than russia
25 gave russia a higher score
and no, all 25 of them weren't parts of the 'soviet' block
greece did extremely well considering the girl couldn't sing and all the song was done by back vocalits

  • Greek diaspora? Oh ...

Greek diaspora? Oh yeah they got nothing in 2003-2002 and only 7pts in 2006. Cyprus was awarded 3pts in 2002 when One came 6th. Is that diaspora? Doubt.
Open your mind and don't be blind

  • You;re wrong. they ...

You;re wrong. they gave 8pts to Turkey this year. I think you need to check again UK votes to Greece and Turkey in the past. Greece has been sending amazing entries since 2004. And "Yassou Maria" in 2007 entered the UK Singles Charts, that's a sign.
And it;s obvious you backing that awful Diva Bilan that's why you can';t understand the truth. Kalomira was way successful than horrible Diva who won thanks to soviet block voting to mama Russia.

i meant last year they gave 10 pts to Greece and 12 pts to Turkey

  • yeah it was a ...

yeah it was a coincidence that last year the Uk gave 12 pts to Greece and 10 pts to Turkey and this year 10 pts to Turkey and 12 pts to Greece, they just happened to like the same 2 countries both years
pls keep that bullshit for underaged kids who know nothing about eurovision
kalomira entered no 75 in the uk charts and then she disappeared, no wonder since it was the greek/cypriot diaspora that got her to that spot
oh, and alex, we aren't all stupid
