GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Actress Toni Collette, known for her movie roles in The Sixth Sense and Little Miss Sunshine, stars in the new Showtime comedy United States of Tara. With Steven Speilberg as executive producer, Collette stars as Tara, a suburban wife and mother struggling with D.I.D. (dissociative identity disorder) formerly known as multiple personality disorder.
The series looks into how a family handles the various personalities that may appear on any given day, including "T", a provocative teenager, "Buck", a gun-toting Vietnam vet and "Alice", a Betty Crocker homemaker who thinks baking is the answer to everything.
Collette says that she liked the idea of the project and wanted to see how well she could portray the different personalities.
United States of Tara airs Sundays at 10pm on Showtime.
The interview was recorded in January 2008 specifically for WOODTV.com.
