  • Don't forget the ...

Don't forget the CPU is just a single component from a whole system. What makes a mac so powerful is the complete architecture design, not to mention the very well optimized mac OS X.

  • I disagree with ...

I disagree with both of those reasons

My G5 does not get "heated" and it is quite fast. It may not be at 3.0GHz but it does have a fsbus clocked in at 1GHz, about 200MHz faster then the Core 2 Duo.

You do have a point about the Powerbook though. At the time a G5 processor was out of the question; Not because of heat or speed, but because of power consumption. But before Apple pulled a Judas on IBM, IBM had allegedly been developing a dual core G4, which in my opinion would have been amazing.

  • G5 chips were not ...

G5 chips were not fast enough and heated too much, apple couldnt even put out powerbook g5 for that reason, it was the right time for a change thats why they made the move.

  • Well, because the " ...

Well, because the "new" macs are great and it's kinda lame to not buy one of them just because of the Intel processor.
