Esto es por mucho lo mas grande que ha dado la musica latina, el junte que produjo la musica de Asalto Navideno 1 y 2. Hector Lavoe y Willie Colon junto a Yomo Toro son tan grandes como Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley o the Beatles no tienen nada q envidiarles, viva nuestra musica Latina y la musica de PR!!!! Viva Hector Lavoe por siempre!!!

These two albums were extremely significant in the history of salsa...first time typical jibaro music was fused with salsa to create a true masterpiece. The heart in this "hymn" to Puerto Rico is unrivaled to this day.I will never stop loving this music...it will forever be a part of me and all Boricuas of that time. Play this for your kids and let them know what real soul of Puerto Rican music is all about !

I use to work for Izyy at Latin NY Magazine in nyc during my high school years and he had all the stars coming by to the office(hector, yomo, jose alberto, etc). I wish i had so much love for salsa then as i do now. I guess age made me smarter and i appreciate it so much now.

4Gibaro, thanks for the info. I will have something new to celebrate with on Christmas. I gotta tell you, Puerto Rico has beautiful music. I had the honor of hearing Yomo last year here in Southern California at the cuatro festival in Long Beach. He was great. If there is one thing that unites man it would be music and dance. Broder! Look for Fania SLPF 399 "Asalto Navideño" Willie Colon. This LP was recorded in 1972 and it has sold millions, it is considered the highest selling record in the Salsa genre. Every Christmas, us Boricuas play the heck out of this recording. Most of the songs were hits but the most popular was "La Murga" (de Panama). As a matter of fact me and friends were playing this last Saturday here in San Antonio Texas in our mid-year parranda party with Cuatro and Trombone. QUe viva la musica!!!

Beautiful song. Yomo Toro is king on that cuatro. SO much sabor and happiness put of those strings. Lavoe is nothing less than genius. Fantastic voice. Did they record this song in the FANIA recordings? I can't seem to find it. Does anybody know? Long live the son!
