  • I think ppl think ...

I think ppl think its a good ending simply because movies either have the "everyone lives happily ever after" ending or the VERY annoying one "leave you hanging because its oh so artistic(No Country for an Old Man)". This one transcended both PLUS YOU NEVER SAW IT COMING. There's no way, even in hindsight it would seem an obvious thing, but when you're in the moment and w8ing at the edge of your seat for that monster and bam! No monster would have been more shocking. Its just a movie sheesh.

  • Why does everyone ...

Why does everyone say its a good ending!? A parent should never kill their own kid until its absolutely necessary, if you can then your not a good parent. A parents vow is to protect your children at all costs not kill them when your sitting in a vehicle alone from monsters... wait longer wait as long as you can. The ending made me unable to sleep that night! I could never kill my son if I had one, my dad could never kill me. People who say they liked the ending are fucked in the head!!

elderjones your a savior, the mist literally made me unable to sleep that night. Everyone I have spoke to said it was the best ending they've ever seen! How can a dad, saving his son from monsters, to only getting killed by his dad, be a good ending????!? People say its a good ending, your f'ed in the head. He killed his son any parent would agree with saying thats a horeshit ending. If you don't then your not a good parent simple as that. Wait as long as you can before you go and kill youself.

  • Guys, every movie ...

Guys, every movie doesn't have to end with a happy tone. The ending was perfect. I wasn't expecting that to happen, probably one of the best movie endings of all time. Not the best movie per say, but the ending was genius.

  • Look at the ...

Look at the terrified look his son has in his eyes the second before "dad" pulls the trigger. It screams "dad, what are you doing?". It's almost as if his life HERO turns against him at that very moment. How could you possibly pull the trigger then knowing there might be a chance to get out of this alive, even if this chance is 1%?

This film teaches us to never give up hope on humanity, even if the chances are slim to none. It DOESN'T teach us that shooting your son is noble. HELLO.

  • SilentXHill man,you ...

SilentXHill man,you and me have the same views. Anyone that even thinks that David did a noble thing by killing his amazing son is screwed up in the head and needs to re-evaluate their thinking about protecting their family. The whole movie the poor kid is crying and all the dad keeps saying is, 'Don't worry we'll be alright, Ill protect you.' That is why I changed it.

  • This seemed way too ...

This seemed way too rushed. It was like LOL OUT OF GAS BOOM. Nothing was attacking him right there. He had a radio in the car he could use to pick up news. He should've waited and tried more options before clinging on to killing his own son. Noble concept. Cowardly and foolish execution.

Yes, I would rather have my child see me fight until the death so he could escape, rather than shooting him in the head so he couldn't. Life is harsh, but I wouldn't take away his only chance to make it.

  • Cause we all know ...

Cause we all know that 5 people, 2 elderly, 1 child, and 2 able bodies can really kill everything that this mist can throw at them. Yes as a father you have the need to protect your son, but when your sons life is in grave danger you do whats best by not showing him the horror of watching his parents die in front of him. ONLY to die himself

  • This is the worst ...

This is the worst ending you can possibly imagine. The movie builds up to him protecting his son no matter what. That means protect, from death or other forms of seperation.

Shooting your child in hopes that the creatures won't kill him is NOT a noble thing to do.

Towering monsters or not, as a real man, you will fight to the death for the safety of your own son. Even if the odds are stacked 80 feet against you. It's a promise you make to your child the moment its born. The father protects.

Okay I loved the mist until the ending, and it made me extremely disturbed. I don't really care how Stephen King wrote the book. Change the ending to where at least the boy survives. Cause that's fucked up.

dude you dont get the point. He killed his son because he didnt want his son 2 die in a bloody death way so he killed him in a less bloody way so the point of this ending is trying 2 say "never give up until fate comes and ends it for you"

  • I agree with " ...

I agree with "hollywood just wanting to shock everyone". There are some fucked up people out there who will see this and it will mess with their minds on what to do in bad situations. Resorting to violence towards your family should NEVER be an option. I got a VERY bad vibe off this film's ending. It was satanistic at best. Look out for yourself and kill your children??? Fuck you, director. Fuck YOU.

  • The one thing I ...

The one thing I HATED with the real ending his how this movie can portray the protagonists as heroes, and then let such petty weakness overtake them. It's hard to believe that someone who could brave all the horrors throughout the movie would shoot his own son and not go to great lengths to save his own son. That's why the mercy killing is shitty. The director was trying TOO hard to be "oo OMG DISTURBING!!!1LOL". What a shitty ending.
