New Dualshock 3 PS3 controller Drivers release

A japanese coder has released new Windows Drivers for the Dualshock 3 PS3 Controllers and they also support sixaxis too and even cooler is the fact they support rumble too:

There are 4 drivers in total

ds3drv_1.02 - Normal Driver
ds3drv_dx_1.02 - dx driver
SDDriverSetting - utility to tweak some settings
ForceFeedbackDriver - rumble driver, you need to install the first or second driver too

Installation:
download either the first or second driver, then open the device manager and search for the dualshock/sixaxis under hid devices, it should be called USB Human Interface Device
then choose update driver and select the driver that you just downloaded

WinVista 32-bit. Connect PS3 controllers to pc via USB cable. Let Vista install its USB HID Human Interface Device drivers. In Device Manager. Expand Human Interface Devices (HID) Select second device, USB human interface device. Right-click & select update driver. Select Option Browse My Computer for driver software. Next screen select option Let me select from a list of device drivers... Next page select have disk. Select and install.

Rumble
to install the rumble driver just right click on the .inf file and choose install
when you'll start a game you'll see a tray icon used to tweak rumble settings, the first menu option is to toggle rumble the second one will open a window where you can set the strength of the force feedback

SDDriverSetting is in japanese language and currently can not be changed to english so here is a translation. this program is used to change settings for the controller such as rumble frequincy and more but is not mandatory to use the drivers.

the first value is the amplification ratio

the second one is the minimum value at which to start the small motors

the third and fourth one are the value of the large motors

the last value is probably the maximum strength

  • This doesn't work ...

This doesn't work on Windows XP Professional SP2 X64. Like the others have said it says compatible with the drivers provided in both the normal and dx folders. It says that the driver is not for the USB Human Interface, I did however allow my DS3 to connect over Bluetooth beforehand. But it doesn't function under the Controllers section, the sticks don't work, the buttons don't press. If you have a solution for X64 please post.

  • These are the ...

These are the instructions I figured out myself for Vista 32bit as they weren't explained elsewhere when I looked. I've heard of others saying this driver has fried or killed a usb port, except those claims are on 64-bit OS's. Exactly what happens now? the usb port doesn't work at all?
