  • Douglas refused to ...

Douglas refused to answer specifically when asked if he and Stone had actually heard Bean 's tape or nor would he say what year he and Stone came up with the Roy D. Mercer
    character.
That enough evidence, or do you need more????

  • He then accused him ...

He then accused him of stealing Bean 's creation. Douglas quickly ended the interview. When contacted recently at KMOD-FM in Tulsa, Douglas refused to discuss the matter.

"I really have no comment," said Douglas. "We've had this problem before. We really have nothing in common except for the name.... We've heard of a tape, but we really have nothing to say on it."

  • and more from the ...

and more from the same article:
Recently Knoxville WIMZ radio personality Phil Williams ambushed Douglas in an interview. Williams had heard the original tapes several years ago and felt that Douglas and Stone had ripped off Bean 's work.

Douglas thought he was making a call to promote his new Roy D. Mercer album, but Williams played a tape of John Bean 's Leroy Mercer and then Douglas' Roy D. Mercer, both saying the catch phrases that the two share.

  • You've got tobe ...

You've got tobe kidding. His plagarism is well documented the following link is to just one news story that documents this. The guy is a fake:
And Tulsa, Okla., radio personalities Brent Douglas and Phil Stone have sold more than 1 million comedy records and tapes starring a prank-caller named "Roy D. Mercer." None of Bean 's friends believe it's a coincidence that the names Leroy Mercer (which Bean occasionally used) and Roy D. Mercer (voiced by Douglas) are so similar.

  • Yes they do know it ...

Yes they do know it. If you listen to the original John Bean Tapes and than listen to these fakes you will see that in some cases he was copied word for word. Believe me, they Know.
Many djs back in the 80s and 90s began to recieve copies of the original bootleg and that's what happened here. They heard it and decided to plagarize to make a buck.

  • This man is a ...

This man is a rip-off artist. Plain and simple. John Bean created the persona and original home-made tapes from his prank phone calls in Knxoville, Tennessee in the early 80's. This is a stupid scam artist trying to make a buck off a dead man's stories and legacy. It's not original and not very funny. Other than that, he's great.
