also if you check out his vid about his passion and warfare interview on his profile, he says he practices 10-15 hours a day.

there's an old issue of guitar magazine, not sure which one, circa 1990-95 maybe. mr vai outlines his 15 hour practice session. that's right 15. find it and you'll "maybe" get to his level one day. i'd start with his first album flexable and work your way to passion and warfare. good luck.
