Absolutely right, we could say other pink floyd songs that could be performed without Gilmour, but Comfortably Numb has Gilmour's soul...although Waters wrote the lyrics, Gilmour takes the lead by far in this song. anyway, i respect Waters creative power and lyrics, but he wrote his best songs with Gilmour's music touch

Playing guitar is like signing your name. No two guitar players sound the same, because no two people can touch the fretboard the same exact way. Each person has their own sound. Some might not be as distinct as others, but it is there. In my opinion, Gilmour's playing and tone is very distinct. I can hear a song and say "Yep, that's Dave." This song can be played wonderfully, but without Gilmour's playing it just isn't the same.

think that might be doyle bramhall II. he's claptons second guitarist, and he's a pretty good fronting his own band too. i'm pretty sure its him.

I'm just saying that on this particular performance he doesn't do much as he only recites the verses and lets the left-handed guitarist do the solos and sing most of the song..
And I don't think it's a bass guitar he's playing since it has 6 strings and the neck seems too short.. Besides there's a bass player standing in the back of the stage so why would they use 2 bass guitars?
