Allya the Beluga whale at an aquarium in western Japan has learned to blow bubble rings. In the wild, some dolphins and whales blow bubble rings by inhaling air through their blowholes and releasing it through their mouths underwater. But thanks to scuba diving equipment, Allya can do it anytime.
Allya clearly loves interacting with her audience. She aims the bubbles at spectators as they peer in through the glass.

By hitlerwascute [Affiliate User] 1219994754 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWe can never know if they'r happy or not since we cant talk to them. In a way i feel that it's impressive how smart these animals really are, what they can learn and such and the joy you feel when you see them do tricks and whatnot. In another way i think it's sad that we need to keep them locked up in parks like this for our own amusement. In a way we're keeping them safe i know, but in another way this is not the natural enviroment now is it?

Or do you go through life showing everyone your ignorance?

By chrysXtal [Affiliate User] 1218862980 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhen did you last get chance to watch Beluga?
I've never, and probably never would, I gather a lot of the purpose of their captivity is so they can be observed, their social interaction, behaviours... without this knowledge we might never be able to understand these fantastic beautiful animals. These being just one point of example, it's all well and good say "Be free" but thats a very short sighted view.
Learn from and understand.
It's not sad - these animals are happy! Look at them having fun! It doesn't seem like they feel like they are captive with how much they are enjoying themselves - maybe they were rescued and rehibilitated and would not do well out in the wild.
