This is a follow up to the much viewed and controversially discussed video: Metropolitan police issue tazer? As hosted on the MrIbster1 channel.
What follows are various scenarios where-by officers choose their tactical option as CS Spray and or Taser

All officers undergo training in the use of CS spray & Taser: this includes how to assess a situation and decide on the appropriate response and providing aftercare for people they have used the equipment on.

The CS spray and Taser are used to protect an officer when dealing with an individual who is violent and dangerous, posing a threat to the officer or members of the public. It prevents injuries to prisoners as well as officers.

More or less, the problem is it doesn't always work, especially on those using drunks or drunk, a tazer doesn't care what there on.

  • CS (named after the ...

CS (named after the initials of the inventors Corson and Staughton) combines the compound (o-chlorobenzylidine malononitrile) a white crystalline substance which is dissolved in the inert solvent MiBK (methyl iso-butyl ketone) and held by this substance in suspension. When it is expelled from the canister as a liquid jet, the CS compound which is suspended in the liquid compound (MiBK) separates from the matrix liquid on contact with the air. MrIbster1

  • I 100% agree. ...

I 100% agree. Tazers don't need to be issued to all police - maybe only one police per vehicle or something.
Knife crime is increasing. I don't care what the government say, I do not trust their figures. I can see myself as a citizen that knife crime is increasing. I have been held at knife point myself before.
The police really don't have anything useful to protect against knives... CS spray would be pretty hopefully IMO, especially against a drugged up guy. And an ASP wouldn't be much better.

    I completely agree with JuH999.
The human rights here in UK is absolutely RIDICULOUS.

  • cont'd... But when ...

cont'd... But when you zap us, we are cleansed. I go to work every day, and I dont commit crimes. But I have "imagined" several crimes, in my life........ is that bad ? Do you think ALL" People shud be taught to respect the Taser Police, while we are young ? Perhaps a 25,000v "example" zap for each child at the age of 10 - U cud tell them that the 50,000v one is "really bad", so dont mess with mr Ibster, man. I cud go on, but I respect this is ur page, not mine. We need police, dont need tazers!

Some good comments here however use your kit as last resort, remember kit can be taken off you and used against you, dont be kit reliable. Your hands feet and head cannot and are just as useful....... Keep safe out there and dont take any S**t we are not paid to be punchbags...................

  • Valid point, take ...

Valid point, take on board what you're saying, however, in UK balance of Human Rights seems to favor the criminal. The onus is on Police to prove intent / guilt, innocent until proven guilty. Accountability for Police action is extremely strict & complicated. Criminals no longer fear Police Officers, they just try to get 1 step ahead.

Cops in Korea are armed with handguns, but I've never seen it 'escalating'. Thing is, if you use a gun for criminals use in Korea, you might as well say bye bye my criminal career.

  • The merton clip ...

The merton clip made me feel sick, it's a shame you don't get to see the other police officer who gets hit with his asp before retreating and then coming back for his colleague. It's a hard hitting clip that is still used for all new recruits doing OST.
cs spray isn't nice but effective to say the least. If i was being threatened with that i'd comply and even more so with a taser!

  • First clip, the ...

First clip, the Merton incident. Alot of lessons were learnt from that clip. Still shown at OST as a warning of how S**t can go so wrong.

Personally I prefer my baton over CS and I think the racking the ASP is a much greater psychological deterent than the small can. Theres just far too many risks of cross-contamination or simply missing. But give me a taser any day. Perhaps not issue to each officer but atleast one in each IRV/Van. There are too many nutters with knives now adays.

i personally wouldn't use any gas or spray weapon, because it can affect the people that are around the person who is spraying. the taser is a weapon that works on a single person

The CS spray and taser are good kit. But I personaly think a Glock 17 9mm semi-auto pistol would do better.
