that's how I do it.. except I put the positive in the oven (with the sculpey on it) so that the sculpey with harden a bit before I cast a negative with it. Probably not necessary but my sculpey was soft like chewed chewing gum...

I had a crazy thing happen to me. I went into a piercing place on a whim with two friends who are crew on my film. One of them was friends with the people there and told them about our situation of finding alginate. They pulled out a catalog and found some and ordered it for me. Now I have 2 pounds which is way too much. I have yet to make it so I will see how it goes. Also check out your local dentist, I am guessing.

made fangs last halloween... used Fimo clay (a sort of plastic-clay you have to bake in the oven to make it hard) but it didn't look as good as this... also, i had to use denture glue which was really disgusting!

A better alternative would be to sculpt the fang using sculpey, temporarily attach it to the positive mold, cast a negative of that, and sandwich the uncured acrylic between the two, press-molding your fang. That way there's little to no shaping/sanding, and less contact with the uncured acrylic.

Ummm... make sure you get an acrylic which is ethyl methacrylate, not methyl methacrylate. MMA can cause severe allergic reactions/respiratory problems in it's uncured state. Wear masks when shaving the stuff down. Not just a paper mask, a good quality mask.
