i'm just relieved that Stalin was counting on Hitler to be dumb enough to do the greatest portion of the work for him while Hitler was counting on Stalin to be too preoccupied to protect the USSR. their miscalculations are the only reason the world doesn't have a completely different map today...

People seldom have though about what would have happened if Hitler wouldn't attack to Russia in 1941. The question is this: if Hitler was planning to conquer the world with only 3000 tanks then what was Stalin planning to do with 30 000 tanks. Why russians kept over 4 million soldiers so near Great German border? Why russian keep concentrating factories to west when ww2 begun? Defensive role?

The truth is that there were 2 rougue states in Europe during those years. Both imperialists.

I remember my parents watching this when I was a child - I found it depressing and boring. Now I find it depressing and compulsive. Hideous - isn't this the bloodiest battle ever?

though its some 35 years old this is the best documentary series ever on ww2
