The Indian Navy joins the global elite club when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh formally launched the indigenously-built nuclear-powered submarine INS Arihant at the Naval Dockyard of the Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam.
Prime Minister arrived at the ENC's airbase INS Dega in Visakhapatnam by a special IAF plane along with his wife at 11 am and drove straight to the Naval Dockyard to commission INS Arihant into the sea.
The 6000-tonne submarine will first be put on sea trials for two years before being commissioned into full service.
In the two years, the submarine will also undergo harbour trials of its nuclear reactor and other systems.
Todays launch of the submarine coincides with the "Vijay Diwas" marking India's triumph over Pakistani intruders in Kargil.
Don't know what to say..but I fell little bad about this. We can't do anything without Russian help. Each and every part in our technology is built with russian help in someway or the other. I don't when we can come with our own design without anyones help..

They have sold to China, India, and Pakistan. Don't forget they turned their backs on India during the Sino-Indian war in the 60's. The U.S. had to help India to keep China away. There is no support in politics, there is only one winner.

Our democratic system may not be perfect, but it is that same system that has planted a flag on the Moon. Very few countries r growing @ India.
When we spend billions in Dfens other sectors like social development r denied those funds. Hence we need 2 be careful how we spend our money, else we will be another P'stan or USSR. Major threat 2 India is internal (maoists etc.), which is due 2 lack of developmt.
