Bill Shatner asks the question - 'What is it with George Takei and his issues with me?'
The question is based on George Takei's recent marriage and the multitude of press stories about his decision not to invite William Shatner to his wedding.

Thanks again for the helpful transcription.
I don't think that Shatner is homofobic, he doesn't say anything about this, just that he doesn't care. It recalls to my mind an ancient poem written by Catullus for Caesar "I don't care at all to plese you, and I don't care at all to know if you are a black or a white man".
Two big egos are difficult to conform!

  • This was Takei's ...

This was Takei's wedding. . .and had everything to do with Takei and nothing to do with Shatner. Why is Shatner making a big deal out of it? Unless I missed it I don't ever recall Takei issuing a statement saying, "I'm getting married and Bill's not invited...so there!" People have a right to invite whomever they want to their wedding and it should be nobody else's business.

Man, I hate that Sulu's being a jerk. One minute he's calling you a big gooey devil's food cake and the next he's dissing the goddamn captain!

  • It's a shame that ...

It's a shame that whatever problem George had with Shatner, he used his wedding to publicly try to humiliate Shatner. Mr. Shatner, you made me sad by even paying attention to his comments and snub. I feel you should have been the better man, and when asked just wished them well and have said just plain and simple you didn't know what his problem with you was. But, you still wish him happiness in his life. Then, you wouldn't look as though you're saying "poor me"......disappointed

  • Shatner's 'rocket ...

Shatner's 'rocket man' is the best thing ever.

He is a complete narcissis which makes him a great actor and comedy performer.

But all narcissists are also S**t friends as they do not get to know anyone but believe everyone should love them and know about their lives, illnesses and problems.

Shatner would have happily gone to the wedding and monopolised it with his anecdotes and monologues about a man he doesn't know.

But it was George's day, not his. Shatner is still great.

  • I think there are ...

I think there are at least two reasons stupid George decided to act like a five year old inviting people to his birthday party(that no one wants to go to) ~

One this is a publicity stunt to get him more attention for his civil union & two he is jealous of William ~ I bet there are many more reasons but I am pretty sure publicity stunt is the main one ~

  • If Bill doesn't ...

If Bill doesn't know George. I wouldnt expect him to be invited to his wedding.

Perhaps George thought he would be hogging all the lines, cutting out the vows in favour of a Shatner monologue.

I like the oldies moaning and getting back into the news. Ringo, Shatner Great.

I am sick of the young talentless celebrities. This is real bitching. Thanks Bill and George.

I'm not surprised that he didn't want an egotistical, condescending asshole who always needs to be the centre of attention at his wedding.

  • Ya know what? I'm a ...

Ya know what? I'm a religious person, a Christian.

And I'm sick of having my faith represented by religious folks like you, immature idiots who jump on every single topic that involves someone who is gay simply because you automatically assume that it's acceptable to use it as your personal pulpit.

This is why religious people are so despised in the public circle... are you capable of understanding that?
