CCSSO 2012 Massachusetts Teacher of the Year, Adam Gray, reads Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad for Jumpstart's Read for the Record 2012 campaign. A special thank you to Mr. Gray for joining us on Read for the Record! A record number of readers took part in Jumpstart's Read for the Record on October 4, helping us to break the world record for the greatest number of people reading the same book on the same day. 2,385,305 people read Lady Girl and the Bug Squad, by David Soman and Jacky Davis, and of those almost 400,000 read the book on-line at wegivebooks.org, breaking the digital reading record with a 500% increase from 2011. Though Read for the Record happens only once a year, you can continue to read books on-line at We Give Books -- just go to wegivebooks.org create an account and start reading -- its free! As always every time you read a book on-line we will donate a book to a child in need. Jumpstart's Read for the Record, presented in partnership with the Pearson Foundation, is one day of the year when millions of individuals come together to celebrate literacy and support Jumpstart in its efforts to promote early childhood education.
