The F-117s were the first to enter the airspace over Bagdahd and bomb their targets. The only thing they had to worry about is a stray AAA round hitting the plane.

what the hell ar you thinking the F/A-18a/b hornet didnt appear untill 1978 thats a 1 year difference the f/a-18 is the only american plane that looks anything like a mig29 plus the mig is more manuverable and nothing beats the sinister look of a mikoyan-gurevich or a sukhoi

no su27series,30series,32series,33series,34series,37series and the migs 29,31,1.44 are all great planes i swear by russian jets and aks but i love the me262 the best as it was the first and was developed by a nation that was centuries ahead of every other nation

RusBP did you not understand. As I mentioned above, the Russian rockets are better. Hence why I mentioned that the newer American AAMs seek to add more range. I was very clear to mention that the AA11 and AA12 are superior in range, warhead size as well as counter countermeasures. The MiG31 is another execellent platform and again, paired with the weapons it carries, I dont see the F16s,F18s and F15s being able to stop them.

While there is no true invisibility, stealth helps the F22 since depending on radar settings from the threat, it may be too small to show allow for a targeting solution. It depends on the PRF setting of the threat radar. As far as the weapons, the AA-11 and AA-12s are excellent weapons. They have longer range, larger warheads and are very hard to counter. The newer AIM9X and AIM120D add more range but nothing beats the Russian warheads. Training, weapons, intell and 3C will be the equalizer

The MiG29 is a great fighter. Hence why the German AF were so popular at Red Flag and the various exercises like Live Winder. MiG29s have been killed by F16s over Bosnia and Serbia and by F15s over Iraq. But I doubt the Serbian pilots were as highly trained as the Russian,Polish or German pilots but I could be wrong. But in my opinion Id take a Flanker over the Fulcrum if I was going to fight. Thank God for the F-22!!

If you are going to call other people misinformed and talk aout "facts" in such a condesceding way, you should reference your claims. WHEN has an F-15 scored a kill aganst a MiG-29 F? Or a MiG-29 flown by a silled Russian pilot? When, in fact, has an F15 even been in combat with one? I doubt ever, unless there are covered-up incidents nobody has ever heard of.
Every MiG-29 sold outside Russia and ex-Soviet countries is a scaled-down version, poorly maintained and cheaply piloted.

If that was true why is the the 15's avionics better? why has the f-15 not lost one air to air combat engagement since its inception? the 29 has lost engagements. the 29 is a decent plane but, it isnt the f-15. I dont care how much thrust vectoring you put into it, the history of the 2 planes speaks for themselves. you want to say it is a good airshow plane i can agree with that but, let us not forget the x-31, the f18 harv, f16xl, f15 active that the ovt is based on.

the russians copied our designs from the f-16xl, f-15 active, f-18 harv, x-31 thrust vecotoring prototypes from the early 90's with the mig. you can get dvd's that show the birds doing the same manuvears as this or the su-37 that crashed and is no more. the americans did it more than 10 years earlier and the russians now are just catching up.

you are aware that the f-15 owns the 29 from bvr range correct? that it has never been shot down in air to air combat by any plane including the mig-29? you are aware that the 29 has trouble dealing with the f-16 and the f-15 is a better plane right? if the 15 has defeated the 29 in iraq how much more do you think the f-22 would eat it alive. the 22 beat the piss out of the eurofighter in mock combat and you think the 29 would beat it. thrust vectoring is great for show but, that is about it.
