Barium metal burns in air, forming a mixture of barium oxide and nitride. Barium peroxide may also be formed as well.

    Yes, although some of the experiments can be dangerous. The other experiments I've carried out were its reaction with water (in which hydrogen is formed), with sand, and demostrating its yellow green flame color of its salts (e.g, barium chloride). Other experiments with barium that could be done is it's reaction with the halogens, sulfur, nitrogen and hydrogen. It'll be wise to seek expert advice on safety before carrying out these experiments.
