My God, I would never get that close to an open drain that big! Now I know why I am suspicious of pool drains.

S**ks for the other lifeguard tho....i almost drowned before(once in the ocean and once or twice in a pool) so i know how it feels...it's scary as F**k , believe me

when I received lifeguard training in 1998, they never mentioned anything about the pool drains or how dangerous they are. it's a good thing I never became a lifeguard at that camp!

there is a drain gate, its just open. it looks like a little brown square if u look at it closely

ive played frisbey with a circular drain cover its fun until u feel yourself moving to the deep end of the pool.

well u see the water S**ks because it goes through the circulation system A.K.A. the water goes through the drain and goes through the pipes to the filter and back into the pool. and the pump did not stop pulling because the pressure wa not relieved. you need to break the piping that leads to the pump or open up the lid that covers the pump/filter. not the big tank one. the little one with the small lid on it. anyone NEVER go near a drain it can S**k up to 400-500 pounds depending on the pressur

Really, any kid could have swam down there and gotten stuck. It's amazing that this doesn't happen more often.

I don't understand why the thing was S**king unless it was draining the pool? You could hear it S**king even before he put his hand in. And why did it make it S**k so much harder when he stuck his hand in just the right spot? Also, maybe I missed something, but why didn't it stop after the lifeguard turned off the pump?

Oh my.... as a lifeguard he should have known better than to stick his arm in there...nightmare.
