Interracial Dating--Black Women and White Men

I dont even see what the big deal is. Whether you're black, white, spanish, or asian...it shouldn't be an issue. Interracial relationships is nothing that needs news coverage. If they love each other, then they love each other. There's no rule in law or the Bible which says that you HAVE to marry within your own race. So I dont see what all the controversy is. If they love each other then WTF...let them get married. Race has nothing to do with it.

Only my opinion but it seems that we (black men) are being phased out and our women are turning to other races. On the one hand yes you can date/marry whom you please, but to me it just looks like more of blacks not sticking together not bring about the uplifting of us as a people.

Why is it so many Americans (Including black Americans) refer to most black people as "African American"?
This term has even been used to those who were born in the states as were their family.
Why not simply use the term "American"?

I'm not saying England/UK doesn't still have its racial problems but I think we're a bit better with it than the States. I know what you're saying about the "it's ok to show white men with black women". In recent years that thing has change a lot over her, soap operas, movies, etc often show black male/white female couples. And believe it or not, many of those relation ships are portrayed in a positive light. Ie: the father doesn't always run off as soon as the bab's born!! ;)

Well yeh, in a way you're right. But again this boils down to cultural differences. Here in the UK, when a person says he's "mixedrace" the automatic assumption is that he is black/white. I guess that's just because we are the most common "mix". But besides that, on things such as job applications, etc, we have little tick boxes under the "Mixedrace" category with sub-categories (black Caribbean, Asian, African, Euromix, etc.) The subcategories are usually optional.

shng: and yes, I totally agree. It's very strange to think that in America I would be expected to label myself "black", in the same way it would be strange to call myself "white"

anyway, they're all just silly labels but I just think mixedrace/biracial/whatever is a bit more accurate.
