but with the original soundtrack, a truly fantastic orchestration of Pop Goes the Weasel by Larry Fein.

The famous "Bustoff" short... one of my favs!

Columbia once had an 8mm "home movie" division, which consisted of some of their features, shorts, and cartoons in "digest" form [50 and 200ft. lengths]. This is just one of those "Stooges" shorts, which were among the most popular in their catalog. They were silent (as virtually all 8mm projectors were); "sound" versions [on magnetic film] were eventually released in the late '60s.

Way back before you were born,they had super 8 home movies. This was long before DVD and VHS. Super 8 movies were the only way to have a copy of a film at home. They were made to run on projectors that you would have at your house. The films only ran a few minutes and were selected scenes from the original. Home movie versions so it did not have sound. Yes,the original short had sound but this doesn't. It is still the same movie but without sound.

But I have seen this episode with sound..... Did they just do it again?

If you want the original sound, turn off your speakers because that's what this would have sounded like. It is not the original short that they made. It is a digest version for home viewing. These were released without sound. The only sound you would have heard was the ticking of the projector. I understand that it would have been better with sound but that's not how it was made.

You should read the comment below yours. THERE IS NO ORIGINAL SOUND!!!! Hence, the sub-titles!

There was no original sound. This is from a silent super 8 home movie. You may be too young to remember or even know what that is. It was pre-VCR/DVD days where the only way to take a movie home was to buy a super 8 reel and show it on your home movie projector.

You should have had the origian sound, it would have made it a ton better.....
