The Pilgrims land at Plymouth Rock and found a colony. A very large number of Pilgrims can be seen standing in line... for their cigarette rations. A Pilgrim goes hunting for Thanksgiving dinner. He meets a black market turkey, one who sounds like Jimmy Durante. The turkey sells himself to the Pilgrim, but a chase ensues... The turkey can deflect machine gun bullets... when dressed as Superman. The two declare a truce and decide to eat together at Joe's Diner.

    Back in Northern California there was these Joe's Restaurants. Livermore Joe's, Original Joe's, Joe's Of WestLake, Broadway Joe's, Sonoma Joe's, Uncle Joe's Grandpa Joe's, Big Joe's, Little Joe's. The latter had photos of "Little Joe" Cartwright from the classic Western Series "Bonanza". The disclaimer is this "We are not affiliated with other Joe's Restraunts.

    Most of the men standing in line for rationed cigarettes at "Ye Cut Rate Drug Store" are caricatures of Tex Avery's animation staff. You'd cry, too, if YOU were considered "1-A" by your local draft board {"You're in the army now..."}. "Eat At Joe's" was a standard advertising line for most restaurants, usually displayed by men wearing "sandwich boards" parading down your local city street, 'future'....

    Since this was produced just before World War II ended in 1945, there are certain "wartime" gags evident at the beginning: the fact that leading war shipbuilder "Henrye J. Kiser" {Henry J. Kaiser} supposedly built it; a "C" gas ration stamp is on the side of the boat, with a "Ye Navy Gun Crew" on the other end, and a CONVOY surrounding the boat...and that inevitabble question facing most people using rationed fuel at the time: "Was this trip REALLY necessary?".
