I H8 SLAUGHTER!!! i'm soooooooooooo glad i dont live in a contry tht eats meat!!! i love horses!! i needed to go and hug my horse after this!!

Because most of the US considers horses as a companion animal not a meat animal.We do not raise them for food and should not allow foreigners to kill them so rich people over seas can dine on an american legend.What will they want next?Our cat's and Dogs?

I am a horse owner and don't agree with transportation of livestock without measures to ensure the animals are comfortable and travel safely as well as ensuring that animals are slaughtered in the highest standards of care, but how can this be any different to the likes of cattle or sheep or pigs?

I think it is ok to say that horse slaughter is wrong. But i don't understand you americans: you are agains horse slaughter, but butchering plenty of innocent people in countries you don't need to be, is ok for you?

my horse jack is a rescued slaughter horse i brought him for £600 and we do everything i have had him for 4 months and my other horses are slaughter horses too they go out to my m8s riding school where they are looked after then they are taken to a lady down the road who retaiers them and people visit and bring food or uno headcollers ect i am 14 live in the uk :D nd have saved altogether 35 horses

Thats why these back yard breeders need to be made more responsible.Now that slaughter has ended maybe they will quit breeding these unwanted horses now that their is no money to be made from this sensless act.

Slaughter is over in the USA we have gotten all 3 horse slaughter houses closed!But need to get the house bills passed so that they can not ship them into Mexico and Canada.

Horses are NOT food animals.Neither are our cats and dogs.Just because these foreigners eat them should we give them those too?One only has to be a true blue American to see that this is WRONG!Horses are a companion animal here NOT a food animal plain and simple.

Yes, the amout of slaughter has gone down in recent years, but the US horse population has not remained the same contrary to the comments before.

How do you think a cow is killed? Its just the same with the horses. Just because people are fonder of hores than they are of cows...you cant look one way and avoid the other.
