THIS is exactly what Burdon should have focussed on after ditching the original Animals: tight, hard-hitting soul music obviously well suited for him... unfortunately the dated psychedelic ramblings he churned out next could not have been further removed from this gut-busting performance.

If only Burdon could have got himself signed to Stax or Atlantic.... what could have been.

I saw him live this year!!

George Harrison confessed that he played the bass line from Otis's version of "Respect" on guitar as his contribution to John and Paul's "Drive My Car".

Look out for a cd called The Very Best of Otis Redding (bouble album)om Atco. It's got all his biggest hits (40 tracks). You can probably find it on Amazon.

To sing with Otis, Eric had to be on his A-game, and he handles himself like a true champ.
