Stephen Wiltshire is a British man who was diagnosed as autistic when he was a child. He's also been noted for his exacting memory, which allows him to recreate [in drawings] vast scenes he sees only once. This video shows his 16-foot-panorama of Rome after taking one helicopter ride above the city.

I adore this type of enigma about the mind.. he has a photographic memory, which many artists have to a degree, his is highly developed..AND he actually does the drawing. It is inspiring..and does remind one to honor the unusual style of people.. how dare the previous comment not being impressed.. As they say 'Bored & boring..Unimpressed therefore an UnImpressive being who's vision sees this video as nothing less than amazing..

  • perspective is ...

perspective is understandably sloppy because of the different angles that he viewed the city from. How can you not call this impressive? The point of this whole "experiment" was to see his memory capacity and he was 99.9 % correct... on the WHOLE entire city. I seriously doubt you can do that.

  • I think that's an ...

I think that's an misconception actually or at least a misunderstood statement. While the human brain is still a mystery I believe that only 10% (roughly) of our brain is active at any one time. If we only used 10% of our brain capacity in total then minor damage to areas of brain wouldn't cause drastic changes.

Although it is in fact a symptom of autism, it is also a talent by definition. Talent - a special natural ability or aptitude.

    You wish you were autistic?

I hate how people call stuff like this talent. It's not a talent. It's actually just a symptom - albeit a very useful symptom...
