  • The problem is ...

The problem is people try and liken the US to other nations around the globe. Well the fact is places like the UK, Germany, Holland, France etc. They have been disarmed for over 70 years already. Hitler himself disarmed Germany and all nations he conquered. The allied occupiers just continued it. That and we were never similar. We in the US have about 1:3 ratio. That's one legal gun for ever 3 legal citizens. We don't even know how many more there are by counting the illegal ones.

  • The fact is over ...

The fact is over 100 MILLION guns reside in the US today legal and illegal. More come in everyday. They are here and are not going anywhere. Even if a law is passed to take them. Good luck funding the round-up of near 100 Million legal guns and especially millions of ILLEGAL ones too. They are here and therefore we the law abiding citizens need them for ourselves. US criminals will ALWAYS be able to get one. Its only logical that the average citizen/victim should be able to get one as well.

  • We are going to be ...

We are going to be left to our children's Airsoft pellet guns to defend our homes and countries. Guns save lives...criminals cause crime. Gun control is like saying any breed of dog that attacks needs to be outlawed (any dog with teeth).

  • The UK and Japan ...

The UK and Japan have some of the lowest gun death rates in the world, they also have the toughest gun laws in the world.

  • Question: isn't ...

Question: isn't making guns illegal represent idiocy? Here, let's try it: so it's against the law to murder people. Yet people still murder people. But we're going to solve people murdering other people by making the guns illegal. So these criminals (most of whom had already commited illegal acts and in addition were in possession of ILLEGAL firearms)are going to all of the sudden become saints after we make gun ownership illegal? Think again nimrods.

  • Well the little ...

Well the little piece of crap militias played an intricate role the Revolutionary War which led to our existence. However I do pretty much agree with you. As I said the D.o.D. which was the War Department transformed that aspect of the 2nd amendment because the un-organized militias today would be virtually useless. The Guard is actually more than a reserve even though it is called a reserve component. It's basically a secondary army. Why wouldnt the people be able to stop the government?

  • They have all over ...

They have all over the world and at all different times in history. The only power the Federal government has is due to the Federal Army which I for example have a commission in. However less you forget the Army is simply full of citizens. I know tons of army personnel both other officers, NCOs, and just enlisted men that are not happy with D.C. even right now. The vast majority of the armed forces if not all are going to side with their friends and families sir. The government would be finished

  • Now the Federal ...

Now the Federal government does have to ability to severly overstep their bounds however they haven't yet. They haven't out of fear. All in all, all Federal judges, officials, senators, reps. and president and vice president etc the Federal government numbers less then 11,000. The 2nd amendment is called two piece legislation. It first talkes of the States right to raise a militia (now the Guards) then has a comma. "," It goes on to simply include "the peoples" right to bear arms. Two pieces.

  • The people owning ...

The people owning guns and the States' militia aka Guards is one issue it deals with. That way the States have troops to use to put down their own civil unrest, or to have a force purely dedicated to their State in times of invasion. The Guard gets deployed all over the world. Thats what comes with a more professional force and Federal funding. However each Guard belongs to their repective State. The people each have their right to keep and bear arms for hunting, defense, etc.

  • And by the way I ...

And by the way I think that your arguments are just ruses to point out your anti-American feelings, because so far the only thing you've done is compare America to Australia, Japan etc.

  • Hey, thats great ...

Hey, thats great that you live in such a nice country. Australia is truly an utopia huh? You may think self-denfense is a "half-assed" reason for owning a gun, but you're comparing apples to oranges here. Criminals in america already have guns, lots of them, and its not that hard to get more. So a gun-ban isnt going to be very helpful. I live in a not so nice area, and ill tell you, i feel a lot better having a gun close by when i go out.

    911, Government sponsored Dial-a-Prayer.
"The police will come to the crime scene, and take a picture of your dead body" No Sh!t Sherlock! (Have Gun Will Vote)
Where I live the Police will make it to my house in about 10 minutes, I could easily blow the thug away and brew a pot of coffee while I wait. Hey Officer, want a cup?
