one thing about the diamond honing is to use a figure 8. this means that u wont be eating one side of the blade quicker than the other- old carpenters trick.

Thanks for all the work! A couple of other useful topics, if you have time and interest: "truing" the hone's surface, and using a 60X or 100X microscope to check the condition of the edge.
