i say its both. its both the media and the parents fault. the girls never would have done what they did if it werent for the fact that they wanted to be famous and have a big hit on the internet like what most people do. they saw it as an opportunity to be famous. at that age, those girls should know what is right and whats wrong, they choice to do it. the parents cant stop their kids 24/7, its impossible. they made a choice, but they didnt know the consiquences

because shes in the hospital(badly beated), she almost died, its a hot story(8 teens against 1), their all girls, happened in a small town, it was kidnapping, they bragged about it and placed it on myspace and youtube, plus their minors so family members will want justice or sue, the list goers on, thats all i can think of.

Enough of this pointing the finger bullshit. We're human beings, were violent. Violence existed before the internet and bad parenting. We can sit here for the next year psychoanalyzing parents and debating sociocultural ideologies or we can just except the fact that S**t happens. Girl talks S**t to her friends = girl gets beat up. Its the parents fault they didnt raise thier kids right . And every addition to youtube should need a trained admin or moderator to accept it in order for a video to be posted atleast this way youtube would be able to say well it was submitted and we declined it and contacted the authorities

it seems there has been more trouble with myspace in the past then youtube thats all i know!! Hey heres a crazy story in chicago today 3 or 4 schools had to be closed because of Columbine Style threats that were made. Two pairs of Shootings in one year that would be horrible. We've already had one NIU.

Or if you cant learn to keep a steady watch out for your kids or keep control..then ya things like this are going to happen, but i dont think its very fair to put all the blame on the internet and "society" saying that its doing something to teenagers and kids because not everybody goes along with it, not everybody follows these ways, most kids dont.

You cant say that youtube and "society" is changing all teenagers to act this way, not everybody is like this, most people arent, most people would never think of doing something like this, if these parents cant monitor their kids, or teach their kids good morals then obviously they are going to get sucked into this kind of controversy, i mean ya sure its the kids fault for posting this sick sick video but what about the parents, if you cant learn to teach your kids the lessons and morals.....

My only comment is that IF a parent can't trust their child with a myspace page than you should be more cautious of what your child is doing online. It is a tragedy and I am completely for these girls being punished for their crime. Myspace and Youtube have nothing to do with how a person acts or what actions they may take. If a child feels threatened or acting as a bully online, then take the computer away or put it in your sight. Bottom line.

that video will never become popular, i mean its senseless stupid beatings. These parents projecting that every single teen with an internet connection are dumb, violent and non-caring douche bags. There are people who care and the amount of that people is the majority of users of the internet. Dumb parents should blame something else, like the other parents, societys moral values, the justice system, the grandma watching the teens. The internet is a second world, anything can happen here.
