    i understand your misimpression. Ragtime was meant to be be played much slower and sweeter when SCOTT joplin composed it . LATER PIANO SHREDDERS sped it up and turned it into a parody . if you can ever find Joshua RIFKIN'S proper piano interpretation of JOPLIN'S work you'll get a whole new insight into the lilting beauty of ragtime. peace.
