The Hymn has been sung at the funerals of such people as; the British hero Winston Churchill, Robert F Kennedy and Reagen to name a few. It was written amid the chaos of the American Civil War, and since it's conception has been an important part of our country's soul. When sung beautifully, it often brings tears to the eyes of real Americans.

This is such a moving song.

It is such an important part of American history.

It's so sad hearing of people trying to rid it from our history because of "separation of Church and State".

It's TRADIDTION, not forcing a religion on anyone. It was and is our culture, and identity. Preserve, not destroy. Keep America American! McCain/Palin '08!

  • Pt.2 Nowhere near ...

    Pt.2

Nowhere near the amount of spending is put into the military as it is in the USA and the only reason we went to Iraq is the 'dossier' about the weapons of mass destruction. The vast majority of Britain didn't want to go war. Ever heard of the 1 million man march? The reason labour are so unpopular right now? The British obviously don't get the same kick out of war as you do.

    Pt.1

Opinion it would result in MAD? Well, as most countries worth invading to gain power either have, or are protected by another country with, at least one nuke, MAD is pretty much guarenteed.

And as I never mentioned Britain in my post, it seems strange of you to bring it up for the vast majority of yours. For your information, political parties are brought in for mainly home affairs, not foreign affairs.

  • That's your opinion ...

That's your opinion. And since when did Britain ever take the moral high ground? COme to think of it... your elected politicians and military leaders were all gun ho to get into Iraq and Afghanistan equally as ours were. Double standards eh?
