Block mold explanation. This is the most basic mold method for silicone rubber. This is a good method when speed is more important than overall cost.

We used 73-45 platinum silicone for this particular mold. A cut block mold like this works best with rubber that is shore A20 or higher. This means a medium rubber. Soft rubber such as Gel-10 would be too soft and would distort at the seams.

  • i came across this ...

i came across this vid because i make cosplay weapons, and one of my friends wants a sword from a video game
the sword is Brotherhood and its used by Tidus of Final Fantasy 10, the blade of the sword is more or less water so i figured it would look great if i made the weapon out of clear plastic and dry brushed some like blue pigment
so i guess what im goin for here is, how hard would it be to make a casting for a sword? i plan to make a foam model of the sword first, she wants it by august

  • All you need is ...

All you need is some firm Clay like Chavant NSP. You could also mold from a plastic original.
