They don't stop when theire 18.
All the training is for theire career AFTER theire 18.
Not even a percentage of the professional ThaiBoxers as of today is under 18.
AND, in Thailand, eight year old kids don't WANT to start training. It's theire only opportunity for theire own and family's financial future. That's why theire parents got them into it in the first place.
To be good, and make money.
ok thanks for that

By chipsmcgee [Affiliate User] 1196439916 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI had heard something similar to that as well, but when I went to tland, all of the older fighters have become trainers or moved on. They are really forced into it to help support there family as well and when they turn 18 they dont want to train anymore becasue they have been doing it most of thier lives, or they go on to box in lumpini in bkk.

Shoulders let you know fists are coming but in a real muay thai fight you wanna watch for the kicks, in tland they dont count points for punching only for elbows, kicks, and knees. Really work on watching the feet so you can check kicks apropriatly. Good luck, its alot of fun.

By chipsmcgee [Affiliate User] 1196372063 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveSo figther will be geting much more money. Besides the 98% of british fighters do it for fun and have full time jobs. Also it was made into a less bloody sport
By T3T2U0 [Affiliate User] 1196269733 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removenah they quit late 20s as theres no competition for larger thai figthers, they all go to MMA, thai boxing requires the agility of youth. example: Ramon dekkers. Also not many people involved in thai boxing make much money outside thailand as the governments don't support it much in the european countries; but in 2008 muay thai is becoming an olypic sport and governments for example the british government will start to invest in the sport to boost the economy.
By T3T2U0 [Affiliate User] 1196269721 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI can understand Muay Thai fighter don't live very long, and it is true that they retied at their late 20 because of too much injure. No offense. I just feel sorry for these poor young guys, especially majority of Muay Thai fighters don't make a lot of money. These people who control the gambling makes most of the money. Muay Thai is a martial art, but they turn it into a bloody sport to make money for these rich men, not the fighters.
