Team Italy World Cup 2006 Montage

1. Somebody said, Totti is garbage, Camoranesi wasn't born in Italy, Italians are bastards, blah, blah,blah... LOL. And Yet what a surprise! Italy won the World Cup 2006. That's tells everything about these ''Somebody' who think Brazil is everything (FIFA Ranking today: ) and Italy is nothing (FIFA Ranking today:2). Come on, man, either you are Brazil-loony fans or some depressed guys looking for all the negatives in none other than the World Champions themselves. I think I'll have to let loose The Joker from 'The Dark Knight' on you. One Depressed on the others. Think in a balanced way. Otherwise you won't be taken seriously. Every Country has her day. Some countries have won in the past, some countries today. And... yes, Brazil were indeed a crap in WC 2006.

2. Only two goals went past the Italy defence. One own-goal and a penalty. The penalty only because the French guy clearly dived in the box. Malouda was fouled, yes, but not conceding the PK to France was to compensate for the previous non-foul by Materrazzi which resulted in PK unjustifiably awarded to France. Remember that? Otherwise both the teams were playing the Final in a defensive mode and both are world class defensive teams. Still Italy was able to find a regular goal thro' France's stingy defense. Remember the Italy v. S. Korea 2002 ? Italy was denied PK against Totti who was genuinely brought down in the box and yet surprisingly HE was the one sent out by Byron Moreno, the referee. Italy were denied atleast three clean goals in that match. Also Inzaghi was brought down again but no penalty was conceded to Italy. That was the match that definitely cost Italy the World Cup. But Italy as usual, never complained which I have observed is their unfortunate trend. Later, the referee Moreno was thrown out of the FIFA system itself because... he was found out cheating even in his country's domestic league also. And one look at the WC 2006 Statistics will prove that poor Italy were the country 'most fouled AGAINST' and NOT the 'most fouling'. Get Real. Picking on One Malouda incident does not change that. Trezequet missed the penalty and the WC and so did De Baggio in the 1994 WC final which otherwise could have been Italy's 'THE' Fifth WC. It happens.
3. World Cup Winners (WCW) Toni and Pirlo are still young. They still have days ahead of them. They can't be compared to Ronaldo who though is a WCW himself, is past his prime form and will never play another one. WCW Ronaldinho is also great and may still have some surprises in hand but I see tough road for him ahead. And if Toni and Pirlo win WC 2010 they will go One Plus on the two 'R's. Messi? Who Messi? Is he being compared to WCW Totti? How many WCs has Messi played or WON? He's talented but a still young player and has lot to prove on World Stage (in WCs). Let's leave him alone for now and let's not over-hype. The same goes for Robinho.
4. Remember, Only One Player does not make a team. So why attack only Totti? Totti and Ronaldinho have each won a WC each. Ballack never has won the Football world's biggest prize and surely never will. Italy won WC 2006 on the merit of their whole team.10 players including Totti scored 12 goals. Totti is less of an attacking midfielder and more of a Playmaker (unlike Ballack). He is selfless and always sacrifices himself for his team's benefit and that explains his only 9 goals out of 58 Internationals. Unlike Ballack / Christiano Ronaldo who cry after every national/club final/semi-final they lose. OK, Materrazzi S**ks even for an Italy fan like me (I am an Indian.) but what the hell, even though he is not a Maldini or a Nesta, he does defend and he also SCORES GOALS (2 headers in WC 2006) unlike any other Defenders in the world. And yes, he does not head-butt/cry on the field.
5. Unlike the Italians who played skillfully in the Italy-US match, the Americans were abrasive and violent (just like the Australians) throughout the match. See the match again for yourselves. They indeed deserved to lose but since the Azzurri are always late-starters on any International Stage., the Americans were fortunate not to.
6. Any team who has qualified for a WC (Ukraine, Germany, Australia) cannot be underestimated. And Is a convincing 2-0 result against the strong Germans on their own home ground without going into penalty shootout, by any stretch of imagination a barely made scraping escape by Italy? Come on man, the Azzurri CLEARLY F**ked the Germans (as always) when it mattered the most.
7. It's ridiculous 'somebody' says that Serie 'A' is full of Foreign Players and it S**ks . This 'somebody' does not even deserve to comment. LOL. Remember The Joker...?

I like Brazil for their smooth attacking flair and the Italy for their rigid technicality and stealth. Brazil scores as everybody expects and Italy scores when nobody expects them to. For me, the Player cannot be larger than the Play itself. So for me, 'world footballer of the year' awards mean nothing and winning the WC means eveything. Which Italy/ Brazil are both great at.

They did not outplay the U.S. because they scored one goal against one of the world keepers in the whole tournament.

They beat out ukraine, germany,and australia to get to the final.Only worthy opponent was germany and they barely made it past them.And nobody dives more than the italians.They also fouled Malouda in the box in the final but as usual the refs in 96 were idiots and the PK was never given.A PK that would have won the game for france.Italy is garbage

Scotland beat France twice and depended on Italy to qualify for Euro 2008.
Brazil was crap in 2006 since they depend to much on Ronaldinho. The were a different team in Copa America where they didn't play like Brazilians use to but much more european and beat the offensive and joyeus Argentines in the final.

They didn't beat fran because Trez missed a penalty, the beat France because the french players couldn't score without diving in the box. And just because a game ends in a tie doesn't mean it was a close one. A team can be outplayed and still win and vice versa.

Anyway, calling Totti garbage shows how little you know about football so I don't even know why I bother.

Italy is the most strategic play in the world. It's not about finesse or showing off. It's about waiting for the right time to attack. Might not be the most entertaining team to watch, but definitely the smartest.

BTW ... I love how all the haters are still leaving comments .. LOL
