This shows how to start and finish stringing mains strings on a tennis racquet using a two-piece stringing method on a Gamma X-2 Stringer - a two-point floating clamp drop-weight machine.
This is my first attempt at making a video guide so do give your comments so that I can make a better revision. =)

  • yea, the bottom of ...

yea, the bottom of the hand I used for holding the clutch most of the time is sore. Near the thumb area. I think it should get better over time. It's not unbearable though and I can still do normal things.

And about the washer things, I kept them under the racquet. Bad move, i'll keep them on the inside next timem. Thanks for the help.

The frame did shorten by a bit though, will it go back to normal when i take the strings out?

sore? not really... haha maybe you just need to get used to it =)

yup they sit inside the racquet to keep it away from the bolt and to spread out the pressure to a wider area on the racquet.

    First string job=3 hours!!!

My hands are sore from the clutch and clamps. Did that happen to you too?

Also, the football shaped washer don't go under the racquet, right? They go on the inside of the racquet to prevent the bolts from hitting the frame?

Oh i see. I ordered my ATS super stringer and it comes with a manual and will come with a getting started USRSA guide. I think it was mentioned like this in the manual, just being sure. You still get consistent tension, right?

  • Whoa, did you put ...

Whoa, did you put the clamp on at first after hand pulling the strings? Did you see YULitle's method for starting your mains with floating clamps? With your method, do the center mains still get the same tension as the other mains? It seems like I wouldn't work, or maybe i'm just a noob.

  • hmmm... not in ...

    hmmm... not in general...
once you get the rythm of the strings you are using u kinda know how much string to feed, what orientation and how many clicks to get it roughly to where it would be parallel. just take some time to get used to the strings and be patient =)

  • Sweet. I've heard ...

Sweet. I've heard sometimes the bar will fall parallel, but it's between to ratchet clicks, so if you don't bring it up some more, it will be too loose, but if you bring it up another click, it will be too tight. Ever had that problem?

  • hi. The X-2 doesn't ...

hi. The X-2 doesn't have a brake. Yup, the ratcheting system is a form of clutch. As with all floating clamps, they need to achor on to another string in order to hold the tensioned string.
the ATS super stringer is built from the same components as the Gamma X-2

    hope this helps

  • Yo, I'm planning on ...

Yo, I'm planning on getting a DW stringer.Does the gamma x-2 have a brake on it? And is ratchet the same thing as clutch? Also, when clamping with floating clamps, do you always clamp two strings to hold tension on every main? Or is that just for the center mains? Any experience with an ATs super stringer?
