Yeah great video, informative, I always wondered how the windings worked in those transformers, and I think it is really important to document these things for younger generations so it is not lost to the average hobbyist.

Normal household clear tape, would that work. I mean would'nt over heat and melt?

i dont know many of those big words in other responses but well done. No offense but it sort of looks like hes been playing too much with the tesla coil if you know what i mean lol.

harder to wind - a conventional transformer can be dismantled, the coil wound on a former, and the laminations replaced. Got to wind a toroid in in one go.

Why not use a toroid core?
