    The best part in the Bleach seires was when Ichigo got a hole punched in his chest by Ulquiorra and became a hollow and DESTROYED Ulquiorra.

    Ah no, I remember now. It wasn't to attain Bankai, it was to regain his abilities as a Soul Reaper after being wtfpwnt by Byakuya when he took Rukia.
    Uruhara puts Ichigo into his "Soul" mode, but as Ichigo has lost his Soul Reaper powers, he comes out as an ordinary soul. And as seen in the rest of the series, the ordinary souls have chains connected to their centre which slowly eat away a hole in their chest, thus, becoming a Hollow.

    Uruhara did something to Ichigo when he was trying to attain Bankai, if I remember right.
    I remember something about Ichigo being thrown into a hole under Uruhara's shop, and Ichigo having to climb out before chain to his soul ate through him, turning him into a full fledged Hollow.
    But Ichigo managed to get out at the last second before turning into a Hollow, so became a half hollow
