Acetylene Bombs - 4th of July

As everybody should understand this can be dangerous. For example I am aware of an incident years ago where the participants MAYBE FIVE OR SIX OF THEM were filling plastic garbage bags with oxygen-acetylene mixture INSIDE A GARAGE, a whole group of them inside the garage. They were using a welding outfit by getting the flame “about right”, extinguishing it by scraping the tip across the floor and then using the residual stream of gas to fill the bag etc, then setting it off outside using long gunpowder fuse.
On about bag number six or so, the mixture went off presumably by static electricity. There was a lot of hearing loss at least temporarily among the participants but I have no long term follow-up.
Most are aware of “fishing” with an explosive device made by putting pellets of carbide inside a glass jar, with several hole in the lid and throwing this into the water to “raise fish”, this of course being illegal. The method of operation is that the water causes the carbide to rapidly generate acetylene, causing high pressures in the glass jar etc. I would like to try this by throwing the bottle into something like a fifty gallon barrel full of water.
This crowd looks redneck enough that some of them should understand carbide and how to get some. As many are aware old time blacksmiths used “acetylene generators” before the advent of acetylene in bottles. These of course used carbide and the operator just threw some carbide pellets into it to make it work. I wish I had saved some of those pellets!!!

heheheh I got there and downed 4 jagerbombs in about 10 minutes... that way when I blow off a limb it doesn't hurt as much LOL
