Unfortunately it does happen here and in the USA hence the need to enforce the Disability Discrimination Act. One day everyone will be treat equally regardless of ability, race, creed, gender, etc.

  • We are a disability ...

We are a disability awareness organisation and we don't agree with this "right to an interview" just because of disability. People with disabilities want to be treat equally as able-bodied persons. Positive discrimination isn't equality, it giving disabled persons "special priviliges" which we do not need.

  • I wasn't being ...

I wasn't being horrible about people with disabilities. Discrimination does exist (hence why this PIF was made in the first place) and contrary to what plasticineraindrops says, declaring problems on an application form just help the discriminators to weed out those they see as undesirable.

Hmmm, it seems you're right and wrong at the same time =s

Well, I suppose it makes sense when you don't see a policeman on a wheelchair and wheelchair users can do well on office or on Point Of Sale posts.

  • Why, no one has the ...

Why, no one has the right to a job, it makes no sense to choose the weak above the strong.

In the UK, where this is made- if you state you have a disability on your application form, you SHOULD legally have an automatic right to get through to interview.
