  • Knowing that such ...

Knowing that such operations are standard and pretty common in the Air Transport Industry - given you, I don't think all private carriers are required so since a lear may or may not require a crew outside the Pilot In Command and the FO. And PMDG makes their own fight dynamics, based off the research of a scrutinous dev gru.

  • It's called all of ...

It's called all of your flight training through muli and turbine, passing the ATP and having a type rating, ALL of which are unwaivering MINIMUM requirements. No Airline here is going to stick you in a 737 after you've been flying a gulfstream most of your career. and as far as the rest of the crew, It's kind of redundant to have to specify "crew certifications" when you know that all airlines here have to assess that aspect - There is no Airline here that will op with an untrained crew.

  • Yes, that proves my ...

Yes, that proves my point when you referenced JAA. In AMERICA if you are an airline pilot you have the so-called "crew certifications" period. There's no way around that fact - You won't be in the cockpit, not even in your finest fantasy if youre not qualified.

  • I agree that not ...

I agree that not every airline has that kind of capabilities in their aircrafts, but with the right equipment and safety certifications, you can do it without problems.

One more thing... FSX flight dynamics S**ks and I've never read PMDG manual.

    Cheers.

  • Dude, you can ...

Dude, you can perform CAT IIIB approaches with no DH and RVR between 50 and 200 m. depending if the aircraft is Fail-passive or Fail-operational. Besides there're many other things involved in the procedure, like aerodrome and crew certifications. This is not said by me, it's said by the JAA in JAR-OPS 1 Manual, Low Visibility Operations.

About B738, it is approved to perform CAT IIIB autoland. Boeing incorporated Rockwell Collins systems in their NG series some years ago.

  • I will hear none of ...

I will hear none of that.
Read the Boeing 737 Systems Manual on the limitations to the use of the Mode Control Console , Flight comp and AFDS. It will tell you all you need to learn about the performance margins on an aircraft that is not rated Cat III B.

(AND NO READING THE PMDG MANUAL DOES NOT COUNT)
FSX will physically allow the plane to autoland because the game is programmed to. Last I checked, The FAA mandates Operations Regs, not Microsoft.

Sorry for the bad spelling. Um anyway what is going on here is easy to do with a bit of time. I've done a Cat III auto land in the worst of conditions. but the default fsx 737-800 is kinda dumb. it takes a while to track so listening to the fsx ATC gets kind of dumb after a while. but you cant land this plane with almost no movement of the controls . And the GPWS is a free download.

  • I wouldn't get ' ...

I wouldn't get 'holier than thou' there guys with your at most, BASIC knowledge because by no means is an auto-land a green light in said visibility, nor any approach for that matter. This is why you have reserve fuel, because you would most certainly need to divert destination. Plus, any Category 3 approach takes little to no skill.

  • Sorry, that's not ...

Sorry, that's not correct. The system is called GPWS (Ground Proximity Warning System). The TCAS (Traffic Collision Avoidance System) it's for alert collision paths. For FSX you can download "MCDU FSCopilot" software to use the GPWS.
