Even tho he cant reach the same notes as he could when he was younger, this guy is still fantastic.

maybe the chorus is singed by heartbreaker, or maybe we dont understand because is a higher level lol.. elton has another song called understanding woman, but I think as a man I.ll never understand , because they are to be loved not understanded, maybe when someone reject you in lots of ways dignity is the hardest word to remember and acceptance and selfsteam are the hardest words to get,

Your English was good enough for me to understand what u mean. U think the narrator (guy in the story who is saying the words in the song) is the "sorry" one? Maybe. After some reflection I now think "f**k you, bye." are often the hardest words to live up to.

yes, i dont speak english at all but a few years ago i heard this song and think the same , f**k you bye would be fine, or maybe whois rejecting to the one who cry is who said sorry cauuse i can,t love you as you want, maybe or not? :s

i enjoyed this vocal better than a live 1976 performance, which is kind of remarkable.
the lyrics to this are confusing to me. i like the song, and yet... isn't it kinda pathetic? i mean, clearly the narrator HAS been heard, and repeatedly rejected -"more and more absurd" -in that situation, wouldn't absence be the only way to win? who needs to say they're sorry? the subject of the song isn't gonna do it. but i guess a song called "f**k you. bye." would not have sold too well.

I agree...although I actually love his old falsetto parts from the 70's--just an awesome talent.
