How To Cosplay: Make A Pleated Skirt!

I've never done Sailormoon cosplays before so I'm really talking theories here.


But maybe you want to try doing out the pleats first, put it under your V waistband and use tailor chalk to mark out the V edge. Then sew a straight stitich on or slightly above the chalk line to hold the pleats in place. Then cut the excess cloth off and sew the pleates to the sailor suit.

I have a question. I really want to cosplay Sailor Moon, but I'm having a little trouble figuring out the skirt. It's a short pleated skirt that is the same length all the way around, which seems easy thanks to your video, but here's the problem: It's the same length all the way around BUT it dips into a V at the waistband in the front. Your sailor fuku video was very helpful for the collar, so I thought you might be able to help. Oh, and did I mention I've never sewn before in my life? Thanks!

You can, but it is 100% easier to do it on a machine. Try craigslist for a cheap one.
