Carl Sagan's Pale Blue Dot. There are several different versions of "The Pale Blue Dot" on-line. The actual words were taken from Carl Sagan's "Pale Blue Dot" audio-book, the music was performed by Vangelis but was extracted from the Cosmos DVD (English audio track 2 has no narration, just the background sounds and the music.) All the pictures inserted into the video portray what I feel Carl Sagan was trying to say. Please rate the video & leave comments. If you like the video, please share it with your friends, family, enemies, and loved ones.

  • I don't think it's ...

I don't think it's depressing at all. Quite the contrary. What an impressive motivation this is, if we as a species would only learn from it.

  • Try thousands of ...

Try thousands of years of wars fought on the basis of religion. Religion does some good things for people but this holier than thou complex will get you nowhere. I know athiests who are fine moral people and Christians who condescend(much like you have) to others. Morality comes from within. Don't kill, steal, lie, etc... these things can easily be agreed upon by people who have no religion just like those who can. Humans have the incredible ability to THINK FOR THEMESELVES. it's great.

Im an athiest and I´v never drunk alchohol or taken drugs or cheated on a woman or hurt any innocent person. People shouldnt need religion to tell them the difference between right and wrong, it should be imbeded in you.I know religous people who behave terribly, it doesnt seem to have as much affect as its suppose to.

  • Its quite ...

Its quite depressing to think that anything I do,no matter how much dedication or persistance I have, will ever matter on the grand scheme of the universe. I could be the president of the whole world,I could cure every disease, but it wouldnt matter, because the human species will one day cease to exist and when I die I probably wont be remembered for anything, and I will be forgotten forever.

This is the only planet we have. Unless we change soon, we can't build a global civilization, let alone an interstellar one. Please, listen to Carl Sagan and heed his words.

  • Just think how ...

Just think how beautiful it would be to see a universe with no God or alien life forms. That would mean that the entire Cosmos is ours! I don't think that mankind will actualy destroy itself. In fact, even if a nuclear war happened today, there would still be tiny pockets of humanity on every corner of the planet (such as doctors, teachers, scientists, ect.) that would still be able to rebuild society. it would only put us a few hundred years behind. evolution is over...mankind is the future.

You can say you believe in God all you want, but don't expect everyone to believe in a god without evidence proving its existence. The fact that humans exist is not proof that a god exists....

Should I be afraid to say I believe in God since some atheists would scorn me for what I believe? No. We'll be fine (humankind). We are here for a reason, we have a purpose here, and everything will fall into place.

  • Free will doesn't ...

Free will doesn't exist. Carl Sagan is VERY WELL aware that a human-centered universe is for the religious and insecure. We are not the latest species on Earth, but we are the only with culture, which does set us a paradigm apart from the rest - but that doesn't mean that we have the right to disrespect them.

If anything, you're doing nature a disservice in denying the survival of the fittest.

Dear YouTub friends:The Bible or any other books is not my sidekick.I'm not Bible blind.I've free will to make up my mind per what I have learned from various sources. Also there's no proof human beings were not the last species planted on Earth.I am sure Dr.Sagan was aware of men's meaningless role in the Universe and human beings are just rubbish. He must have been both disappointed and discouraged.(PEOPLE PLEASE STOP KILLING ANIMALS!STOP EATING MEAT!STOP WEARING FUR/LEATHERThankyouAdemar)

  • Carl Sagan was an ...

Carl Sagan was an astronomer who became somewhat famous when he worked with NASA to land the viking probe on Mars. He further became known for helping to create (and host) the scientific mini-series called "Cosmos". He died in 1996. I highly recommend learning more about him. There is a wealth of information online including many videos here on youtube. The poster of this video XXXSDESDEXXX has several.
